According to the US military, gun clp is sufficient to keep its weapons operating and maintained in the field under various conditions. It can't succumb to the heat, high pressure, saltwater immersion, or humidity. It also shouldn't dry out or stiffen in the sun. It must also not allow a lot of sand or dust to enter. It must also perform between -65 and well over 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
